The Environmental Commission meetings are held the third Wednesday of every month at 5:15 p.m. in the Council Conference Room.

Members

There are seven Environmental Commission Members:

  • One member of the City Council
  • One environment/sustainability representative from Central Washington University (CWU)
  • Not less than 4 members shall be residents of the City of Ellensburg
  • No more than one member may reside outside of the City's urban growth area
  • Two members of the commission may be under the age of 18
  • The president of the Ellensburg High School environmental club shall be an ex officio member of the commission. 

Commission members serve five-year terms. The current Commission members are:

  • Councilmember Nancy Lillquist
  • Jordan Spradlin, environment/sustainability representative from Central Washington University 
  • Brenda DeVore, term expires December 31, 2029
  • Christina Wollman, Chair, term expires December 31, 2026
  • Raven Harlin, term expires December 31, 2026
  • Kamran Hermann, term expires December 31, 2029
  • Vacant, EHS Environmental Club President, ex officio member

Responsibilities

The Environmental Commission operates under the authority of Chapter 1.60 of the City Code and is responsible for advising the City Council on matters especially concerning designated sustainability elements such as water resources, land use, waste reduction, and urban forestry.
