Utility Bill
Notice to Utility Customers:
Since December 2023, the City has suspended any collections actions on utility accounts that were past due to allow customers to transition to a new billing system. As of April 2024, this suspension (pause) of account collections has ended.
Utility Account Collections Resume April 2024: The collections process pause has ended for past due utility accounts.
The policy for past due accounts is as follows:
- Late fee: If full payment is not received on or before the due date on the utility bill, the entire account is deemed past due. A late fee of $10 will be charged, and a late notice will be mailed to the customer.
- Door Tag: If full payment is not received on or before the due date of the late notice, a door tag will be delivered to the service address and a $25 door tag fee will be charged.
- Disconnection: If full payment is not received by the date and time on the door tag, service is subject to disconnect for non-payment. Once service has been disconnected, the full past due balance plus a reconnect fee and possibly a utility deposit will be required before service is restored. Reconnection is not guaranteed the same day payment is received.
Payment Plan Alternative: If you know you will not be able to pay your bill by the due date, please contact customer service at (509) 962-7201 to request a payment plan. Note: Once service has been disconnected for non-payment, the full past due must be paid in order to restore service.
