Youth Sports Programs

The City of Ellensburg Parks and Recreation Department coordinates a wide range of youth sports programs which focus on teaching proper fundamentals in a positive environment. City of Ellensburg Athletic programs provide participants with an opportunity to learn new skills, engage in physical activity, and form new friendships. 

Youth Sports Programs are listed below based on the school year calendar, with programs beginning in September listed first.   UPDATED for the 2025-2026 School Year

Open Gym  Basketball and Pickleball

Free Open Gyms

The Ellensburg Parks and Recreation department in partnership with the Ellensburg School District will offer a variety of FREE Open Gyms. 

All participants are required to sign a waiver to participate. Youth under 18 will need a waiver signed by a parent or guardian upon entrance.

The Open Gym page includes a Google Calendar listing each Open Gym date, be sure to reference the calendar, as days and times of Open Gyms are subject to change.

SUMMER SPORTS CAMP

The City of Ellensburg Parks and Recreation Department is proud to present Skyhawks Summer Sports Camps. Multiple sports camps will be held throughout the summer for youth 3 through 12 years old.

Many Skyhawks Summer Sports Camps have full day or half day options. Select camps will include swimming at Memorial Pool with Skyhawks camp counselors and lifeguards supervising.

VOLUNTEER COACHES

Volunteer head and assistant coaches are needed for all teams for Girls Youth Basketball, Boys Youth Basketball, Coed Youth Volleyball, and Coed Youth Running Club. 
 

Coaches will lead 1 to 2 practices per week and manage games. Individuals with a love for sports and enjoy working with youth, are encouraged to volunteer.

Youth Recreation Scholarships

HopeSource Youth Recreation Scholarships are available for sports leagues, day camps, music lessons, art classes, dance, gymnastics, swim lessons, and more, for children up to age 18.

You can use this form to comment on the Public Draft of Ellensburg's Parks, Recreation, Open Space, and Sustainable Funding Plan (PROS Plan). This long-range plan establishes a strategic framework and funding strategy for the future acquisition, maintenance, development, renovation and restoration of Ellensburg’s parks, recreation facilities, natural open spaces, trail corridors, programs, and services over the next 10 years. The City will review all feedback before issuing the Final Plan.
