You can use this form to comment on the Public Draft of Ellensburg's Parks, Recreation, Open Space, and Sustainable Funding Plan (PROS Plan). This long-range plan establishes a strategic framework and funding strategy for the future acquisition, maintenance, development, renovation and restoration of Ellensburg’s parks, recreation facilities, natural open spaces, trail corridors, programs, and services over the next 10 years. The City will review all feedback before issuing the Final Plan.

After School Daily Activities

The Stan Basset Youth Center (SBYC) free-flowing activity philosophy promotes the growth of youth through a wide range of group and individual educational, recreational, technological, and cultural activities.

The Ellensburg Youth Center will be open for an After School drop-in program Monday through Friday, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Youth in 3rd to 8th grade will receive homework help and also participate in fun filled arts and crafts activities, STEM activities, active games and more! The Youth Center will open early on early release days.

Summer Activities 

Summer Age Groups
Youth Center Daily Drop-In and Summer Trips are open to youth entering 3rd to 8th grade for the 2025-2026 school year, no exceptions.

Summer Daily Drop-In
Youth will participate in fun filled arts and crafts activities, STEM activities, active games and more. Summer Drop-In Programs will be held Monday through Friday afternoons, with activities from 12:00 pm to 5:30 pm!

Summer Trips
The Stan Bassett Youth Center (SBYC) offers a wide variety of summer trips to area attractions and events. Trip include beach days, adventures to the Woodland Park Zoo day, hikes/nature walks, and many more. Summer trips provide youth with an opportunity to bond with other youth, and to visit a wide range of attractions which they may otherwise be unable to visit. Summer Trip Registration 
Summer trips require a separate registration. Summer trips open for registration on May 12, 2025, register online or in person at the Stan Bassett Youth Center between noon and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Register Online: Summer Trip Registration

Please Note: Space is EXTREMELY limited. Space is limited for each trip, trip spots can only be reserved with registration and when required, payment.

Staff and Volunteers

Youth are supervised and instructed by a well trained staff and countless talented, dedicated, passionate volunteers. Parents and community members are always welcome to visit the center and/or volunteer.

Virtual Learning Resources

The Youth Center has compiled a list of Virtual Learning Resources to help engage youth in learning at home. Subjects include Reading, Math, Science, Music, Foreign Language, Nutrition, Physical Education Virtual Learning Resources


Facility Information

The Youth Center is comprised of a large games room, lounge area, and computer lab.
