The Ellensburg Police Department maintains peace and order by protecting our community.
  • We have 29 sworn officers who, together, continue to keep total property crime rates down
  • Our Animal Shelter continues to reduce the number of animals needing to be shelter housed
  • We are engaged with our community through National Night Out, Cop on Top, the Citizen's Academy and many other community-based programs

In the spring


Reserve Academy
  The purpose of the Reserve Officer Program is to train and equip state certified Reserve Officers to augment full-time officers for patrol duties. Check back late 2018 for applications for 2019.

In the summer


National Night Out
  Each year on the first Tuesday in August, this event is celebrated in communities throughout the United States. 

Cop on Top  (view past flyer)
  A partnership with Special Olympics, Cop on Top helps raise awareness and funds for local athletes with intellectual disabilities.

In the fall


Citizen's Academy
  The Citizen’s Academy is a program designed to provide participants a working knowledge of the Ellensburg Police Department. Classes and discussions provide a foundation where citizens learn about the duties and responsibilities of our department and the citizen’s role in the interaction of police.


Other events


Coffee with a Cop
  Gathering at various business hosts in our community, law enforcement officers meet with the community for conversation and coffee.
