- Function/Duties
The City of Ellensburg Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for providing an extensive range of programs and services for the community. The Parks & Recreation Department plans, organizes and manages the City's parks and recreation functions including park acquisition & development, park maintenance & city beautification, and comprehensive recreation services and activities. The department maintains and operates four indoor, year-around recreation facilities including a senior center, a municipal pool and fitness center, a youth and community center, and a racquet and recreation center. The department also functions as a registration and scheduling center for recreation programs, sport fields and picnic shelters. It is also responsible for coordinating with other community recreation and education service agencies and organizations to further enhance leisure opportunities for area residents and visitors.
